River and Bush
Our property extends to the edge of the Warawara Kauri forest, and is bordered by the Waihou river which rules our life to some extent. Fed by numerous streams higher in the hills, it can rise quickly during heavy rain when our ford becomes impassable for a short time.
We will be happy to show you this picturesque spot at the back of our property. Getting there involves a leisurely ramble alongside the river, into the bush and up a side-stream to the waterfall. This takes approximately half an hour depending on age, fitness, photographic stops and other distractions. The pool below the waterfall is not deep but is still most inviting on a hot day. Perhaps you should come prepared for a dip! And - if you're wondering - we'll tell you how the waterfall got its name.
